What We Provide

In general, our standard beds include very basic:
- Twin size wooden bed frames fabricated by our volunteers in Oak Park
- OSB (particle) board as a box spring substitute
- Twin size mattress
- Sheet and pillowcase set

BED FRAME
Our bed frames are constructed from 8 foot 2”’ x 4”’s, 4’ x 8’ sheets of one side sanded plywood, and four-door hinges. The lumber is cut, fabricated and components assembled into collapsible platform bed frames by our volunteers. The final product, ready to be picked up, is approximately 80” long, 6” wide and 13’ tall, and weighs approximately 35 lbs.

OSB BOARD
We provide OSB (particle) Board cut into four sections 37 ½” x 19” for easy transport, with a combined weight between 15 lbs. and 20 lbs. These sit atop the bed frame, under the mattress, in lieu of a box spring.

MATTRESS
We currently provide new twin size spring mattresses, wrapped in heavy vinyl covers for protection during shipment, each weighing approximately 33 lbs. Our current supply of mattresses is manufactured in the USA.

BEDDING
We currently start by providing a sheet and pillowcase set with each bed. If available, we also provide pillows, fleece blankets, and comforters or bed in a bag sets (see picture).
